San Fransisco is the commercial, cultural, and financial heart of northern California. It is a global top travel destination due to its beautiful hilly landscape against the ocean shore, luxurious skyscrapers and notable residents. The city also draws its fame from the classy restaurants and some of the best chefs it harbors.

There are plenty of things to do and experience in this big city. Let’s look at the best things we can do while in San Francisco.

Visit the Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is a world-famous structure located between Marin county and San Fransisco Bay. It is an iconic landmark of that was inaugurated in 1937 and, at the time, was the longest suspension bridge in the world. You can explore the bridge by crossing it (for free) on foot or by bike. While there, make sure to take a few pictures, and then go back or go across it at any time of the day or night.

Check out the Millennium Tower

The tower is a combination of two skyscrapers: the taller one reaches a height of 646 feet. Its construction began in 2003 and ended in 2009. The total cost of the skyscraper was 350 million dollars, but its value-added up to 750 million dollars in 2013 when they sold all the apartments. A penthouse could be sold for 13 million dollars. Today, the Millennium Tower is still standing but it is also sinking.

Take a walk to the Beach

The oceanic shores have beautiful beaches covered by white sand and a few tourists here and there. The beach is vast and quiet, stretching up to 3.5 miles. The silence at the beach makes it an ideal place to relax, take in the beauty of the shoreline and check out the Golden Gate National Park.

Explore the Botanical Garden

The botanical garden is a true beauty, that should not be missed! It showcases 55 acres worth of 8,000 different plants. It is an excellent place to connect with nature, learn new things and escape the busy city.

Visit Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz Island is a tiny island formed as a military formation, a federal prison and a military prison. It is famous for housing many infamous federal prisoners over the years, as well as being showcased in a very famous movie. It is now a tourist attraction as many come to view the depths of the prison.

Enjoy great food at Fisherman’s Wharf

The Fishermen’s Wharf is widely appreciated tourist attraction and a neighborhood based on the northern waterfront of San Francisco. It is famous for its fisheries and eateries. Make sure to try some of the best food San Francisco has to offer, especially the Dungeness crab!

Explore Ghirardelli’s Square

Ghirardelli’s Square was once a chocolate factory owned by Domenico Ghirardelli, an Italian who, in his 20s, moved to San Francisco as a chocolate and coffee merchant. He set up the chocolate factory in this area. Today, the square is home to many shops, restaurants, and markets. A great place to explore and grab something to eat.
