6 Irish Pub in America to Visit Today the Saint Patrick’s Day

Saint Patrick’s Day

Did You ever visit an Irish Pub? Today is Saint Patrick’s Day, a big celebration day for the Irish men and women. Saint Patrick being the foremost patron saint of Ireland, March 17th (his death anniversary)is more of a religious holiday in Ireland.

While Ireland is celebrating, what will the Irish population in America do? How will they celebrate? I suppose they go to service and participate in gatherings, exchange greetings with compatriots and they may go out in the evening to a nearby Irish pub to drink a pint of Irish beer.

This is how a traditional Irish Pub will look in the U.S.

Irish Pub

Of course, times have changed ever since the first Irish pub was opened in America. Pubs and bars have undergone frequent modifications as per the latest trends in the world. I suppose it is why some bars are described as ‘TRENDY BAR’.

Let us accompany the genial Irish men to some of the best Irish pubs in the United States. At the same time, let us get to know what the Irish’s favorite food is.

The Shamrock Irish Pub and Eatery

Shamrock Irish Pub and Eatery

Address

39252 Winchester Rd. #145, Murrieta, CA 92563

The reason for this Irish pub’s popularity is its interior decoration depicting typical Irish culture through hand-painted murals. The bar table is made of solid Oak which too is the tradition of Irish pubs.

In their website, The Shamrock pub and eatery has clearly mentioned that today being the Saint Patrick’s day, they do not entertain reservation of tables.

Read more about today’s events in Shamrock.

Irish Pub in New York: The Irish American Pub

Irish American Pub

Address: 17 John Street, New York, NY 10038, United States. Phone: (646) 414-6223

That’s a smart move to add the ‘American’ in the name of the pub.

The inside of the bar looks spacious and I could see the Irish pub is well stocked. The solid wooden chairs are upholstered in fine leather. Though there are hundreds of Irish pubs in New York, this one got into a reporter’s list because of its space and the range of liquor and food. Looking at the menu, I could find nothing exclusively Irish. If I am caught wrong, please forgive me.

Irish Pub: The Dead Rabbit, New York

Address: 30 Water Street, New York, NY 10004

It’s a rich looking bar, spacious but looking cramped due to too many tables curtailing the moving space. I think the waiters would find it tough to maneuver between the tables carrying the drinks and food.

It is rated as the World’s Best Bar by Drinks International magazine. In this well patronized Irish pub, you get the authentic Guinness beer and Irish whiskey. For food lovers, they should try the braised rabbit (dead of course) and prime rib. The names of the cocktails throw mo clues.

How about these for samples?

  • Switchblade
  • Hunky Dory
  • Hush Money

Irish Pub in Washington DC:  Irish Channel Restaurant & Pub

Irish Pub

Address:  500 H St NW, Washington, DC 20001, USA

This Irish pub also serves as a ‘Tavern’. Do you remember that word? We read it in textbooks and novel written about 50 years ago. This is an authentic Irish pub in America’s capital city where I believe more Irish men works than any other state in the U.S.

Read the menu and I again noticed nothing exclusive to Irish food. Ah, this is America’s capital; you have to please every ethnic group here.

Emmets Pub, Boston

Emmets Irish Pub, Boston

Address: 6 Beacon St, Boston, MA 02108, USA

Beacon Hill, is Boston’s elite area with picturesque slopes with rows and rows of houses… Emmets Irish Pub and restaurant is located in this area. Oh yes, you can buy mugs and mugs of Guinness beer, the pride of Ireland.

In this Boston pub, not only the beer but even the onion soup is named ‘Guinness Onion Soup’.

McCarthy’s Irish Pub & Restaurant – Tequesta, Florida

McCarthy's Irish Pub

It’s a home away from home for the Irish men of Florida. Though the pub is located a bit away (village of Tequesta is on US Highway 1)from the hustle and bustle of a city, today being the Saint Patrick’s Day, I am sure it will be jam-packed.

The Irish bar looks really grand and charming. It is the kind of place I would frequent. The well-stocked bar would cater to everyone’s thirst and they will be also be served authentic Irish us chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie, and Fish & Chips.

Today being the Saint Patrick’s Day, there will be live music with Irish Entertainer Hugh O’Neil from 3.00 pm. Oh dear, you are not allowed to reserve today. I think it is only fair to all the Irish community who wants to join the Saint Patrick’s Day party.
