8 Places in the World That Offer Very Clear Water to Swim

Clear Water

When God gives water in the form of rain, He gives the clearest and cleanest water. It is we either directly or indirectly make the water undrinkable and non-swimmable. Wait! Don’t ask me, “what about the ocean that also receives the same clear water from the rain but still salty when you taste it directly from the sea”? I have no answer to that.

However, there are eight water bodies in the world where the water is at its clearest. They are ideal for safe swimming and snorkeling.

Shall we take a glance at those unbelievably clear public water bodies?

OMG! Isn’t that water looks serenely clear?

One more crystal clear waterbody is called aptly, “The Mirror Lake”.

Have you ever heard about “AAAAA” rating given to an area of extraordinary natural beauty? Well, the Jiuzhaigou Valley that is located in the northern Sichuan Province of China is given that rating by none other than the UNESCO in 1992.

This pristine oasis in the Sichuan province is very far from Chengdu, the capital of that province.

Five Flower Lake and the nearby water bodies attribute the presence of calcium carbonate in a high level for the translucency of the water. Irrespective of the depth of the lake, the bottom of it is visible to naked eyes. That’s the ultimate proof of the translucidity of the water.

If you ever go to China, please make a visit to the Jiuzhaigou Valley to see the Five Flower Lake and some other lakes that have the clearest water. While you are there, you can also enjoy seeing:

  • Limestone ponds that have lovely blue crystal clear water
  • Roaring waterfalls
  • Snow-clad mountains in the distance
  • Hot springs
  • Golden snub-nosed monkey

Clear Water Katherine Gorge, Australia

Oh yes, the water is absolutely clear and still, that is evident from the image of the hill reflected on the water clearly. Catherine town is located in Northern Territory, Australia. Isn’t the scenery absolutely breathtaking?

The small town of Catherine situated in the Catherine National Park is far away from the major city of Darwin ( 300+ km) but it is accessible by plane.  There is so much to see such as crystal clear water bodies, exotic flora and fauna and more.

Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia

That picture is worth 1000 words but then, I don’t think words are necessary to say the water is at its clearest best. There are 16 clear water lakes and some of them proudly display waterfalls bordering them.

The whole naturally beautiful area is situated inside the Plitviče Lakes National Park in Croatia. To access the lakes, you need to drive for two hours from Zagreb city. You can go on a boat tour to the forest in close quarters and also see all the clear water lakes. Else, you can take a leisurely walk on a wooden walkway.

Crater Lake, Oregon, United States

Crater Lake Clear Water

That’s very beautiful!  It is obviously a caldera lake and that’s why it is called a crater lake. Caldera lakes formed by the aftermath of a volcanic eruption which sometimes creates a depression on the earth and the pit filled up with rainwater. The crater lake is all lovely deep blue that displays its bottom clearly. There was a volcano here called Mount Mazama and it gave away due to geological phenomenon long time back.

Sheosar Lake, Pakistan

It looks like another crater lake but it is not. Sheosar Lake surrounded by small hills with verdant meadows. You can see this lake if you go to Deosai National Park, located in Gilgit-Baltistan province, Pakistan.
