Choose One These Fine Resorts in Ooty

Ooty 1

Ooty is an excellent hill station located in Tamilnadu, India. Next to the three big hill stations in the Himalayas namely, Simla, Darjeeling, and Nainital; Ooty is the most visited hill-station in India.

How to reach Ooty?

There is no dearth of accessibilities to Ooty, a true gem of hill station in Tamilnadu state.

It is well connected by road from:

OotyIf you want to know the nearest railway station to go to Ooty, Mettupalayam, 40 km from Coimbatore is the one that operates a toy train up the Nilgiri Hills. You can reach Ooty that is located about 48 km from Mettupalayam in about 5 hours.

By plane, you can reach Coimbatore from any part of India. From there, you can choose either the train option or the road traveling option.

Resorts in Ooty.

Being a very well visited hill station, there are several choices of hotels, resorts, independent cottages, corporate guesthouses and home-stays in Ooty that is officially named Ootacamund.

Having stayed in hotels in Ooty, I would certainly recommend staying in a good resort as all your needs are taken care of under a single roof. Resorts arrange guided tour of the Nilgiri Hills and they know all the important sightseeing spots in and around it. You definitely need that official local transportation assistance to move around. If you are staying in a hotel, you may have to haggle a lot with the local cab drivers. Moreover, they certainly won’t take you to some of the hidden gem in the hill station.

Let me point to out to some of the best resorts in Ooty.

Safari Land Resort, Ooty

Safari Land Resort, Ooty

This resort is located well away from Ooty town. It is on the way to Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary that is convenient to explore both Ooty attractions and the wildlife watching in the Mudumalai forest.

Safari Land has two resorts close to each other but both are located inside the deciduous forest that will lead to thick jungle as you foray deeper. Within the vicinity of the Safari Land resort, you get to see waterfalls, mountain streams, and verdant meadows.

Bokkapuram tree houses and individual cottages are situated in a five-acre forest land. Their second resort is located in Masinagudi, 5 km from the Bokkapauram resort on the Mysore to Ooty road. In Masinagudi location, you can opt to stay in a private villa that offers a great view of the Blue Mountains.

Amenities of Safari land Resort, Ooty

Ooty is a prominent hill station in India and the resorts and hotels vie each other to offer all the basic plus a few luxury amenities.
Safari Land resort is not lagging behind in this aspect. You get all the basic requirements including free internet connectivity. Additionally, there is a doctor on duty, a health club, and a swimming pool.

I think Safari land resort in Ooty is an ideal place to stay because you are literally surrounded by the freely-roaming forest animals such as:

  • Elephants
  • Deer
  • Tigers
  • Indian Gaur
  • Bear
  • An assortment of monkeys
  • Nilgiri Tahrs

In addition, the Mudumalai forest is a haven for a great range of colorful birds that are happy to live in the ‘sholas’.

The resort can be easily reached from Coimbatore or Mysore.

Gem Park Resort

Gem Park Resort

I could not gather much from their website  because the website is too slow and I don’t have the patience to wait for it to load and read. Hence, whatever I have gathered is from various other sources such as travel booking sites and travel blogs.

From the image above, I reckon the Gem Park resort has a fine taste for aesthetics. The view of the Western Ghats must be available from all parts of the resort which is rated as a 4-star hotel.

The Gem Park is strategically located amidst several sightseeing places in Ooty that include the rose garden and the beautifully landscaped botanical garden.

The accommodation offered is only different types of suites culminating in Presidential Suite. I think it is fancy to name it like that.

The suites lavishly furnished that exude style and taste. There are two restaurants in the resort that go by the names, Jade garden, and Toda Café.

Amenities and facilities offered at Gem Park, Ooty.

You can safely assume the availability of the all the modern basic amenities. I mention only the luxuries that are on offer here. They include:

  • Doctor on call
  • Laundry & Dry Cleaning
  • Gym and Sauna
  • Several indoor games such as snooker
  • Outdoor games offered are cricket and tennis
  • Pastry shop
  • Free breakfast served on a buffet table
  • User Free Toiletries
  • Free Coffee Maker
  • Use of hair dryer

Sagar Holiday Resorts

Sagar Holiday Resorts

The cottages built on a slope; beautiful, isn’t it? There are 36 cottages in the Sagar Holiday Resort in Ooty. Given the resort’s beauty, I believe their occupancy level must make the owners grin always.

Even the Sagar Resort’s address sounds prestigious. Address: Sagar Holiday Resorts, Scenic Valley View, Grand Duff Road, Lovedale, Ooty.

The guests who have stayed there in the past have written positive feedback on a few travel rating sites. They were all unanimous about the view of Ketty Valley from their cottage’s small terrace.

The food menu changes daily and that speak volumes about the hotel’s intention of serving the best food to their guest and make them come again for the food alone. You can have drinks at the bar.

These three resorts in Ooty appeal to me the most. However, it doesn’t mean I don’t like other holiday resorts in this lovely hill station. There is that long-standing Sterling Holiday Resort located at Fern Hill and the much advertised Club Mahindra Derby Green holiday resort that is tough to get a reservation.

Kurumba Village Resort too has been demanding the attention of late. It is located on the way to Mettupalayam from Ooty.

Oh, I should mention the ITC Hotels-run “Fortune Resort Sullivan Court” that is said to be an ultra-luxurious resort in Ooty, very close to the railway station.
